What installation cable is for
Installation cable is the fixed wiring inside buildings: from distribution board to circuits, to lighting and to machinery. YMvK is the workhorse for 0.6/1 kV, with XLPE insulation and a PVC sheath rated for indoor, outdoor and underground use. H05V-K and H07V-K are the flexible single cores for switchboards and conduit, at 300/500 V and 450/750 V. For an awkward route there is cable with fine-stranded class 5 copper: YMvK ss Cca, RV-K with a PVC sheath (Eca) and the halogen-free RZ1-K (AS) (Cca). Even flexible cable gets stiffer in large cross-sections; the bending radius is on the product page of each type.
Solar installations call for their own type. The H1Z2Z2-K follows EN 50618 for 1.5 kV DC, is halogen-free and resistant to UV and temperatures up to 120 °C for 20,000 hours. The standard sizes from 2.5 to 25 mm² in black and red carry the TÜV mark. Ordinary installation cable is not built for that.
CPR class: what the specification asks
Since the Construction Products Regulation (CPR, via EN 50575), every permanently installed cable carries a reaction-to-fire class. The Bbl sets the minimum class per building use and space (table 4.42); NEN 8012-1 guides the choice per space. YMvK Cca carries KEMA-KEUR and complies wherever the Bbl requires Dca or Cca; a declaration of performance (DoP) follows when the project calls for it. For an extra protected escape route the Bbl requires B2ca with smoke class s1; there you choose a halogen-free type in B2ca.
H05V-K and H07V-K are Eca. That is enough inside a closed switchboard, not as fixed wiring through a building. Which class your project requires depends on the building use and the type of space; send those two with the specification. We check the type and flag it when another class is mandatory.

YMvK Cca is held in our own warehouse in Dordrecht, as are several sizes of H07V-R and H07Z1-K in green/yellow. Ordered before 12:00, usually on site within 1–2 working days, on drum or in coil. The other types we supply to order. You get the lead time with the price, not after it.

What is the difference between YMvK and YMvKas?
YMvKas is YMvK with an earth screen ("as", from the Dutch aardscherm). That is a steel wire braid (VO) or steel wire armour (VG) that protects the cable mechanically and also serves as earth, which is why YMvKas has no green/yellow core. YMvKas is listed under underground cable; YMvK is the unarmoured variant for fixed installation.
Can H07V-K go directly under plaster?
No. H07V-K and H05V-K belong in conduit, in closed ducts or in switchboards. Direct installation under plaster or in the ground is not permitted; HD 516 (the guide to the use of harmonised cables) and NEN 1010 require conduit or trunking.
Which YMvK cross-sections are in stock?

Is RV-K suitable for outdoor and underground use?
Yes. RV-K can be laid underground, in conduit and in the open air, and is suitable for wet locations. Under NEN 1010:2020, unarmoured cable such as RV-K may go into the ground, provided it lies deep enough. The 2015 edition, which still applies by law, asks for extra protection, such as a duct. For mechanical stress choose the armoured RZ1MZ1-K(AS).
