H07V-U is the solid single-core wire for 450/750 V: a rigid copper conductor with PVC insulation, for fixed installation in conduit and duct. The solid conductor sits firmly in the terminal and suits the smaller cross-sections (1.5 to 10 mm²). Supplied to order; the lead time is stated in the quote.
H07V-U is a harmonised single-core, non-sheathed wire with a solid plain copper conductor and a PVC insulation, rated 450/750 V and manufactured in accordance with EN 50525-2-31. It is intended for fixed installation in conduit, trunking or closed installation ducts, on or under plaster, and for the internal wiring of switchgear, control panels and distribution boards in dry indoor locations. The wire is available in the cross-sections 1.5 to 10 mm² in a wide range of colours. It is not intended for direct burial, outdoor use, or for installation where it is exposed to mechanical stress or flexing in service.
Also known as: building wire
Applications
- Fixed installation in conduit or duct, on or under plaster.
- Internal wiring of switch and distribution boards in small cross-sections.
- Where a rigid, solid conductor is wanted for a firm terminal fit.
What to look out for
- Solid does not bend easily; for many bends or large sizes choose H07V-R.
- Solid fits push-in terminals directly without a ferrule; finely stranded (H07V-K) needs ferrules or terminals approved for fine-stranded conductors.
- CPR class Eca. Where the wire runs through a cavity wall, above a suspended ceiling, under a raised floor or in surface-mounted conduit or trunking, the Bbl requires at least Dca; choose H07Z1-U (Cca) there. In conduit cast into concrete or concealed in a solid wall, Eca is sufficient, as it is for the wiring inside a control panel or machine.

H07V-U or H07V-R?
H07V-U
- solid (class 1)
- stiff, firm in the terminal
H07V-R
- stranded (class 2)
- easier in large cross-sections
It is the same PVC wire for 450/750 V with a different conductor. H07V-U is solid (class 1): stiff, firm in the terminal and suited to the smaller cross-sections. H07V-R is stranded (class 2) and much easier to lay in the large cross-sections. Choose H07V-U for ordinary circuits in conduit, and H07V-R for heavier cross-sections and runs with many bends.

H07V-U
- solid
- directly into push-in terminals
H07V-K
- fine-stranded, much more flexible
- ferrules or suitable terminals
Both are PVC wires for 450/750 V and 70 °C. H07V-U is solid and fits directly into push-in terminals; H07V-K is fine-stranded and much more flexible, but needs ferrules or terminals approved for fine-stranded wire. Choose H07V-U for straight runs in conduit, and H07V-K for tight enclosures and distribution boards with many bends.
