YMz1K-ss
Dutch halogen-free flexible installation & power cable, 0.6/1 kV, Cca-s1,d1,a1
YMz1K-ss is the flexible YMz1K for the larger cross-sections: fine-stranded copper under XLPE and an LSZH sheath, so 35 to 500 mm² is far easier to handle. CPR class Cca. Supplied to order; the lead time is stated in the quote.
YMz1K-ss is the flexible ("ss" = super-flexible, fine-stranded) version of the Dutch halogen-free installation and power cable YMz1K, for a rated voltage of 0.6/1 kV. It has plain copper flexible stranded conductors, cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) core insulation and a grey, halogen-free, low-smoke (LSZH) outer sheath: the same CU/XLPE/LSZH construction as rigid YMz1K, but with a flexible conductor that makes the larger sizes far easier to pull in and bend. Its reaction-to-fire performance is CPR class Cca-s1,d1,a1: flame-retardant, halogen-free and low-smoke, for public and high-rise buildings, data centres and industrial installations. Where the Bbl requires B2ca, such as on an extra protected escape route or in a tunnel, a B2ca version is available on request. It is the flexible sibling of rigid YMz1K (the Dutch counterpart of XGB and N2XH). The range concentrates on the larger cross-sections, from 35 to 500 mm².
Also known as: flexible halogen-free installation cable
Applications
- Large halogen-free feeders where a rigid cable is hard to pull in.
- Data centres and hospitals with tight bends; in tunnels the B2ca version.
What to look out for
- Fine-stranded class 5: crimp lugs or ferrules; never bare under a screw terminal.
- For smaller cross-sections the rigid YMz1K is enough.
- Conductor
- Plain (bare) copper, flexible fine-stranded conductor, class 5 acc. to IEC 60228.
- Insulation
- Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), 90 °C rated.
- Core identification
- Coloured cores acc. to HD 308 S2, with or without a green/yellow protective conductor (3G, 4G, 5G).
- Sheath
- Halogen-free, low-smoke (LSZH) polymer, grey; UV-resistant (EN 50289-4-17).
- Rated voltage Uo/U
- 0.6/1 kV (600/1000 V).
- Test voltage
- 3.5 kV AC.
- Standard
- NEN 3618; HD 604 S1 part 5 sect. C; KEMA K 42C; conductor acc. to IEC 60228.
- Reaction to fire (CPR)
- Class Cca-s1,d1,a1 acc. to EN 13501-6 / EN 50575 (B2ca on request).
- Halogen-free / low smoke
- Halogen-free acc. to IEC/EN 60754-1/-2; low smoke density acc. to IEC/EN 61034-1/-2; flame-retardant acc. to IEC 60332-1-2.
- Max. conductor temperature
- +90 °C (short circuit +250 °C, max. 5 s).
- Permitted ambient temperature, fixed
- −40 °C to +80 °C; min. laying temperature 0 °C.
- Min. bending radius, fixed
- 12 × outer diameter (single-core 15 ×); the flexible conductor eases installation.
YMz1K-ss or YMz1K?
YMz1K-ss
- flexible conductor
YMz1K
- rigid conductor
Sheath, insulation and fire class are the same: halogen-free, XLPE and Cca-s1,d1,a1. The difference is the conductor: YMz1K-ss has a flexible conductor, so large cross-sections are much easier to pull in and bend. For large cross-sections with tight bends choose YMz1K-ss; for the smaller sizes, the rigid YMz1K.

YMz1K-ss
- halogen-free sheath
- Cca-s1,d1,a1
YMvK ss Cca
- PVC sheath
- Cca-s2,d2,a3
Both are flexible 0.6/1 kV cables with XLPE insulation for heavy feeders. The difference is the sheath: YMz1K-ss is halogen-free with class Cca-s1,d1,a1, YMvK ss Cca has PVC with Cca-s2,d2,a3. Where the specification calls for halogen-free or smoke class s1, choose YMz1K-ss. Where Dca or Cca with smoke class s2 is enough, YMvK ss Cca is sufficient.
