NHXMH

Halogen-free sheathed installation cable, 300/500 V

300/500 V CPR Cca DIN VDE 0250-214
CU/LSZH/LSZH On request Lead time: On request; the lead time is stated in the quote. Send your enquiry
Application

NHXMH is the halogen-free NYM: the same sheathed installation cable for 300/500 V, but with LSZH insulation and sheath that give little smoke and no corrosive gases in a fire. For public buildings and escape routes where the Bbl requires Dca. Supplied to order; the lead time is stated in the quote.

NHXMH is a halogen-free sheathed installation cable for a rated voltage of 300/500 V to DIN VDE 0250-214, with plain copper conductors (solid class 1 up to 10 mm², stranded class 2 from 16 mm²), a halogen-free cross-linked core insulation and a halogen-free, low-smoke (LSZH) outer sheath. It is the halogen-free counterpart of NYM: in the event of fire it is flame-retardant, emits no corrosive halogen gases and produces little smoke, so it is used for fixed indoor wiring in and under plaster, in masonry and concrete, in public buildings and other installations with high safety requirements. On escape routes where the Bbl requires Dca, the class Cca-s1,d2,a1 complies; on an extra protected escape route the Bbl requires B2ca. The -J version carries a green/yellow protective conductor; the -O version has the same construction and dimensions without it. It is available from 1.5 to 35 mm² in the common multi-core configurations.

Also known as: halogen-free sheathed cable

Applications

  • Fixed indoor wiring in public buildings and on escape routes where the Bbl requires Dca.
  • Installations with high safety requirements where low smoke is mandatory.
  • In and under plaster, in masonry and concrete.

What to look out for

  • Halogen-free and low smoke, but flame-retardant, not fire-resistant (no circuit integrity).
  • Not for direct burial or unprotected outdoor use.
  • J = with green/yellow earth (e.g. 3G1.5), O = without (3×1.5): for circuits with an earth conductor always the J version.

Which one do I choose?

NHXMH or NYM-J?

NHXMH

  • halogen-free insulation and sheath

NYM-J

  • not halogen-free

NHXMH is the halogen-free counterpart of NYM: the same use and the same 300/500 V, but with halogen-free insulation and sheath. In a fire NHXMH gives little smoke and no corrosive gases. Choose NHXMH if the specification calls for halogen-free, for example in public buildings. Mind the CPR class too: NHXMH is Cca, NYM-J is Eca. Where the cable is exposed to indoor air in a building, the Bbl requires at least Dca, and NYM-J does not meet that.

NHXMH or N2XH?

NHXMH

  • installation cable
  • 300/500 V
  • 70 °C
  • in plaster, masonry and concrete

N2XH

  • power cable
  • 0.6/1 kV
  • XLPE insulation for 90 °C
  • supply and distribution

Both are halogen-free, but they belong to different parts of the installation. NHXMH is a 300/500 V installation cable for 70 °C, for fixed wiring in and under plaster, in masonry and in concrete. N2XH is a 0.6/1 kV power cable with XLPE insulation for 90 °C, for supply and distribution. Choose NHXMH for the final circuits and N2XH for supplying distribution boards.
