YMvK Cca
XLPE insulated, PVC sheathed installation cable 0.6/1 kV
YMvK Cca is the installation cable most commonly specified in the Netherlands for fixed wiring at 0.6/1 kV. XLPE insulation for a 90 °C conductor temperature, a flame-retardant PVC sheath, KEMA-KEUR and reaction-to-fire class Cca. The common cross-sections are in stock in Dordrecht: ordered before 12:00, usually on site within 1–2 working days.
YMvK is a fixed-installation power cable with XLPE insulation and a flame-retardant PVC outer sheath, for use in dry, damp and wet environments: indoors, outdoors, in the ground and in cable ducts. It is suitable for fixed installation in residential, commercial and industrial buildings and is classified in reaction-to-fire class Cca-s2,d2,a3 under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR); the same cable can also be supplied in CPR class Dca on request. This is the standard YMvK with a class 1/2 conductor; for a fully flexible conductor (class 5, often used in the larger cross-sections for easier pulling) see the YMvK ss variant. Five-core from 5G16 upwards we usually supply as the fine-stranded YMvK ss Cca.
Also known as: installation cable · power cable · YMvK
Applications
- Supply to distribution boards and circuits in residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
- Spaces where the Bbl requires Dca or Cca. Not on an extra protected escape route: there the Bbl requires B2ca with smoke class s1.
- Outdoors and underground where no mechanical protection is needed; otherwise VO- or VG-YMvKas.
What to look out for
- Unarmoured: in the ground we advise a sand bed with cover tiles or a duct. Under paving or where digging is a risk, choose VO- or VG-YMvKas.
- Solid up to and including 6 mm²: fits terminals directly; stranded class 2 from 10 mm², so use cable lugs.
- From stock in Dordrecht, any length cut to size and no minimum. Ordered before 12:00, usually on site within 1–2 working days.

Current ratings to NEN 1010, for copper at a conductor temperature of 90 °C. Air is method E: multi-core cable in free air. Single-core is method F: three cables in trefoil, touching. Ground is method D2: buried directly. Two-core values are single-phase, three- to five-core values three-phase. An empty cell means NEN 1010 gives no value there: method F starts at 25 mm² and method D2 runs to 300 mm². The values apply to one circuit, at 30 °C in air or at 20 °C and a soil thermal resistivity of 2.5 K·m/W in the ground. We recalculate them for your situation.
The complete dimension and current-rating tables are in the datasheet.
YMvK Cca or YMz1K?
YMvK Cca
- PVC sheath
- Cca-s2,d2,a3
YMz1K
- halogen-free sheath
- Cca-s1,d1,a1
Both are 0.6/1 kV installation cables with XLPE insulation. YMvK Cca has a PVC sheath and class Cca-s2,d2,a3. YMz1K has a halogen-free sheath and class Cca-s1,d1,a1: less smoke and no corrosive gases in a fire. If the specification calls for halogen-free, or Cca with smoke class s1, choose YMz1K; otherwise YMvK Cca is sufficient.
View YMz1K →YMvK Cca or YMvK ss Cca?
YMvK Cca
- solid, stranded from 10 mm²
YMvK ss Cca
- fine-stranded conductor
The difference is the conductor. YMvK Cca is solid up to and including 6 mm² and stranded from 10 mm². YMvK ss Cca has a fine-stranded conductor that is easier to pull and bend, but it needs crimped lugs or ferrules. For final circuits and smaller feeders choose the standard YMvK Cca; for large cross-sections in tight shafts, basements and enclosures, the ss version.

YMvK Cca
- class Cca-s2,d2,a3
YMvK Dca
- class Dca
Cca is a higher fire class than Dca. Where the Bbl requires Dca, the smoke requirement is s2, and YMvK Cca with class Cca-s2,d2,a3 meets it as well. A separate Dca version is only needed if the specification explicitly asks for that version.
