Application

H07V-K is the fine-stranded installation wire for 450/750 V: class 5 copper with PVC insulation, in all core colours. The standard wire for conduit on or under plaster, closed trunking and the internal wiring of distribution boards and machines. More flexible than solid H07V-U and stranded H07V-R, so easier in tight enclosures.

H07V-K is the flexible single-core installation wire (building wire) to EN 50525-2-31 (HD 21.3 / IEC 60227-3) for 450/750 V fixed wiring. It consists of a single fine-stranded class 5 copper conductor insulated with PVC; there is no outer sheath, so H07V-K is drawn into conduits, trunking and cable ducts, or wired in enclosures, control panels and distribution boards. The flexible class 5 conductor makes it easier to route and terminate in tight panels than the solid (H07V-U) or stranded (H07V-R) versions. The PVC insulation is colour-coded to HD 308 S2, including green/yellow for protective conductors. Conductor temperature 70 °C, reaction-to-fire class Eca. Where a halogen-free wire is required, choose H07Z1-K (70 °C) or H07Z-K (90 °C), separate products.

Applications

  • Wiring in conduit on or under plaster and in closed trunking.
  • Internal wiring of distribution boards, switchgear and machines.
  • Earth and bonding conductors inside enclosures (green/yellow).

What to look out for

  • Fine-stranded class 5: ferrules are mandatory in screw and spring terminals without wire protection.
  • For hot rooms or more current: H07V2-K (90 °C); halogen-free: H07Z1-K.
  • CPR class Eca. Where the wire runs through a cavity wall, above a suspended ceiling, under a raised floor or in surface-mounted conduit or trunking, the Bbl requires at least Dca; choose H07Z1-K (Cca) there. In conduit cast into concrete or concealed in a solid wall, Eca is sufficient, as it is for the wiring inside a control panel or machine.

Which one do I choose?

H07V-K or H07V-U?

H07V-K

  • fine-stranded conductor

H07V-U

  • solid conductor

Both are PVC installation wires for 450/750 V and 70 °C. H07V-U has a solid conductor, H07V-K a fine-stranded one. H07V-K is easier to work with in tight enclosures and conduits with many bends, but needs ferrules where the terminal is not approved for fine-stranded wire. Choose H07V-U for straight runs and push-in terminals, and H07V-K where there is a lot of bending and panel wiring.

H07V-K or H07Z1-K?

H07V-K

  • PVC insulation

H07Z1-K

  • halogen-free insulation

Both are fine-stranded wires for 450/750 V and 70 °C, with the same use in conduit, trunking and enclosures. H07V-K has PVC insulation, H07Z1-K halogen-free insulation that gives little smoke and no corrosive gases in a fire. Choose H07Z1-K if the specification calls for halogen-free; otherwise H07V-K is sufficient.

H07V-K or H07V2-K?

H07V-K

  • PVC insulation for 70 °C

H07V2-K

  • heat-resistant PVC for 90 °C

H07V2-K has heat-resistant PVC insulation for 90 °C, H07V-K standard insulation for 70 °C. Our H07V2-K is the Tri-Rated version, approved to UL and CSA as well as the European standard. Choose H07V2-K for hot enclosures and for panels that must meet North American requirements. For ordinary installation and panel wiring, H07V-K is sufficient.
