H05V2-K
Heat-resistant PVC flexible wire, 90 °C, 300/500 V
H05V2-K is the heat-resistant PVC wire: fine-stranded copper with insulation rated 90 °C instead of the usual 70 °C. For wiring in luminaires, heating appliances and warm switchboards. Supplied to order; the lead time is stated in the quote.
H05V2-K is a harmonised single-core, non-sheathed wire with a fine-stranded plain copper conductor (class 5) and a heat-resistant PVC insulation for a maximum conductor temperature of 90 °C, rated 300/500 V and manufactured in accordance with EN 50525-2-31. It is intended for the internal wiring of electrical equipment such as luminaires, heating appliances, switchgear and control panels, motors and transformers, where the ambient temperature exceeds the limits of ordinary 70 °C PVC wires, and for protected fixed installation in conduit, trunking or closed installation ducts. The wire is available in the cross-sections 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0 mm² in a wide range of colours. It is not intended for outdoor use, direct burial or continuous flexing service, and exposure to UV radiation should be avoided.
Also known as: heat-resistant wire · equipment wire
Applications
- Internal wiring of luminaires and heating appliances at higher temperatures.
- Switchgear, motors and transformers where 70 °C PVC is not sufficient.
- Protected fixed installation in conduit or duct.
What to look out for
- The 90 °C version is for hot spots: luminaires, heating appliances and cabinets where 70 °C wire (H05V-K) gets too hot. H05V2-K only gives a higher current rating if the terminals are also rated for 90 °C.
- Finely stranded class 5: use ferrules.
- CPR class Eca. Where the wire runs through a cavity wall, above a suspended ceiling, under a raised floor or in surface-mounted conduit or trunking, the Bbl requires at least Dca. In conduit cast into concrete or concealed in a solid wall, Eca is sufficient, as it is for the wiring inside a control panel, appliance or luminaire.

H05V2-K or H05V-K?
H05V2-K
- heat-resistant PVC for 90 °C
H05V-K
- PVC for 70 °C
Both are fine-stranded PVC wires for 300/500 V in 0.5 to 1 mm² inclusive. H05V-K is made for 70 °C, H05V2-K has heat-resistant PVC insulation for 90 °C. Choose H05V2-K for wiring in luminaires, heating appliances and hot enclosures. If the temperature stays within what 70 °C wire can handle, H05V-K is sufficient.

H05V2-K
- PVC wire
- 90 °C
SiF
- silicone wire
- around 180 °C
H05V2-K is PVC wire for 90 °C, SiF a silicone wire for around 180 °C. Both are fine-stranded and rated 300/500 V. If it gets hotter than 90 °C where the wire runs, choose SiF; up to 90 °C, H05V2-K is sufficient.
