H07V-R is the stranded single-core wire for 450/750 V: a class 2 copper conductor with PVC insulation, for fixed installation in conduit and duct and for wiring switch and distribution boards. The stranded conductor keeps large cross-sections workable. Available in many colours. Green/yellow 50 to 120 mm² is in stock in Dordrecht; other sizes and colours on request.
H07V-R is a harmonised single-core, non-sheathed wire with a stranded plain copper conductor of class 2 and a PVC insulation, rated 450/750 V and manufactured in accordance with EN 50525-2-31. It is intended for fixed installation in conduit, trunking or closed installation ducts, on or under plaster, and for the internal wiring of switchgear, control panels and distribution boards in dry indoor locations. The stranded conductor makes the larger cross-sections easier to handle than a solid conductor; the wire is available in the cross-sections 1.5 to 400 mm² in a wide range of colours. It is not intended for direct burial, outdoor use, or for installation where it is exposed to mechanical stress or flexing in service.
Also known as: building wire
Applications
- Fixed installation in conduit, trunking or closed duct, on or under plaster.
- Internal wiring of switchgear and distribution boards.
- Larger cross-sections where a stranded conductor is easier to lay than a solid one.
What to look out for
- Stranded class 2 is the usual choice from 10 mm²: solid (H07V-U) becomes too stiff for the conduit. Below 10 mm² H07V-U is the usual choice.
- Class 2 fits screw and cage terminals without a ferrule; only finely stranded (H07V-K) needs ferrules.
- CPR class Eca. Where the wire runs through a cavity wall, above a suspended ceiling, under a raised floor or in surface-mounted conduit or trunking, the Bbl requires at least Dca; choose H07Z1-R (Cca) there. In conduit cast into concrete or concealed in a solid wall, Eca is sufficient, as it is for the wiring inside a control panel or machine.

H07V-R or H07V-U?
H07V-R
- stranded (class 2)
H07V-U
- solid (class 1)
Both are non-sheathed PVC wires for 450/750 V and 70 °C. H07V-U has a solid conductor (class 1), H07V-R a stranded one (class 2). Solid wire is stiff and sits firmly in the terminal, but becomes awkward to lay in the larger cross-sections. There you choose H07V-R; in the small cross-sections H07V-U is the usual wire.

H07V-R
- stranded (class 2)
- connect without ferrules
H07V-K
- fine-stranded (class 5)
- needs ferrules
Both are PVC wires for 450/750 V. H07V-R has a stranded conductor (class 2), H07V-K a fine-stranded one (class 5) that is much more flexible. H07V-K is easier to work with in tight enclosures and distribution boards, but needs ferrules. Choose H07V-K for wiring with many bends, and H07V-R if you want to connect without ferrules.
