YY-LSZH
LSZH flexible control cable, 300/500 V
YY-LSZH is the halogen-free control cable: flame-retardant to IEC 60332, low smoke to IEC 61034 and no corrosive gases in a fire. For public buildings, data centres and anywhere people and equipment must be protected. CPR class Dca as standard, B2ca on request. Numbered cores with a green/yellow earth. Supplied to order; the lead time is stated in the quote.
YY-LSZH is a flexible, unscreened multicore control cable with a halogen-free, low-smoke outer sheath, intended for control, signalling and power connections in machinery, switchgear, production lines and building installations where the emission of corrosive or toxic gases in a fire must be kept to a minimum. Fine-stranded class 5 copper conductors make the cable suitable for fixed installation and for occasional, free movement without tensile load. It is intended for dry, damp and wet indoor locations and for use in enclosed outdoor locations; it is not designed for continuous flexing, drag-chain applications, direct burial or unprotected outdoor exposure. The numbered black cores with a green/yellow earth core allow fast, unambiguous termination.
Also known as: halogen-free control cable
Applications
- Control wiring in public buildings and data centres where the specification asks for halogen-free and low smoke; in tunnels the B2ca version.
- Machines and production lines with numbered cores and a green/yellow earth.
- Fixed installation indoors and in enclosed outdoor locations.
What to look out for
- Halogen-free is not the same as fire-resistant: this cable is flame-retardant but does not provide circuit integrity.
- Unscreened: for interference-sensitive signals, choose a screened halogen-free type such as LiHCH.
- Conductor
- Plain (bare) annealed copper, fine-stranded, class 5 to IEC/EN 60228.
- Insulation
- Halogen-free thermoplastic compound (LSZH).
- Screen
- None (unscreened).
- Sheath
- Halogen-free, low-smoke thermoplastic compound (LSZH), grey.
- Core identification
- Black cores with white numbers; from 3 cores with a green/yellow earth core in the outer layer (J configuration). 2-core without green/yellow.
- Rated voltage Uo/U
- 300/500 V.
- Standard
- Design based on EN 50525-3-11; halogen-free insulation compound to EN 50363-7 (VDE 0207-363-7).
- Flame-retardant
- IEC/EN 60332-1-2 (single cable) and IEC/EN 60332-3-24 (bunched cables).
- Halogen-free
- Yes; halogen-free insulation and sheath; low smoke density to IEC/EN 61034-2.
- Reaction to fire (CPR)
- Dca (EN 50575); B2ca on request.
- Conductor standard
- IEC/EN 60228 class 5.
- Max. conductor temperature
- +70 °C.
- Permitted outer cable temperature, fixed
- −20 °C to +70 °C.
- Permitted outer cable temperature, flexing
- −5 °C to +70 °C.
- Min. bending radius, fixed
- 6 × outer diameter.
- Min. bending radius, flexing
- 15 × outer diameter.
YY-LSZH or YSLY-JZ?
YY-LSZH
- halogen-free insulation and sheath
- CPR class Dca
YSLY-JZ
- PVC insulation and sheath
- CPR class Eca
YY-LSZH is the halogen-free version of YSLY-JZ. Cores, numbering, green/yellow core from three cores up and the 300/500 V rating are the same; in YY-LSZH insulation and sheath are halogen-free instead of PVC. As a result YY-LSZH gives little smoke and no corrosive gases in a fire. The CPR class differs too: YY-LSZH is Dca, YSLY-JZ Eca. Where the cable is installed permanently in a building and exposed to indoor air, the Bbl requires at least Dca; choose YY-LSZH there. For the wiring inside a machine or control panel, YSLY-JZ will do unless halogen-free is specified.

YY-LSZH
- control cable
- unscreened
- 300/500 V
- numbered cores
LiHCH
- data and signal cable
- tinned copper braid
- 250 V
- colours to DIN 47100
Both are halogen-free, but for a different purpose. YY-LSZH is an unscreened control cable for 300/500 V, with numbered cores and a green/yellow core from three cores up. LiHCH is a screened data and signal cable for 250 V, with core colours to DIN 47100 and a tinned copper braid. Choose YY-LSZH for control circuits at 230 V, and LiHCH for sensitive signals that need a screen.
