Application

LiYCY-TP is the LiYCY with twisted pairs: twisting suppresses crosstalk between signals and the overall braid keeps external interference out. The choice where several signal pairs run close together. Core colours per pair to DIN 47100. The 4×2×0.75 is in stock in Dordrecht; other sizes on request.

LiYCY-TP is a flexible, screened data and signal cable in which the fine-stranded bare copper conductors are twisted in pairs, insulated with PVC, stranded in layers and covered by an overall braid of tinned copper wires under a grey PVC outer sheath. The pair twisting reduces crosstalk between circuits, while the braid screen limits the influence of external electrical interference on the transmitted signal and reduces the emission of the cable itself. The cable is intended for the transmission of low-voltage data, measuring and control signals in dry and damp indoor locations, for fixed installation or occasional flexing without tensile load. It is not intended for outdoor use, direct burial or power distribution.

Applications

  • Several signal pairs running close together, where crosstalk must be kept low.
  • Measuring and data signals in control systems and test setups indoors.
  • Fixed installation or occasional flexing without tensile load.

What to look out for

  • Twisted pairs work best when both cores of a pair carry the outgoing and return current of the same circuit.
  • CPR class Eca. Where the cable is installed permanently in a building and exposed to indoor air, the Bbl requires at least Dca. The wiring inside a control panel or machine is not covered by that requirement, but the cables running to it are.
  • Earth the screen at one end for analogue signals, at both ends for digital buses and HF interference.

Which one do I choose?

LiYCY-TP or LiYCY?

LiYCY-TP

  • cores twisted in pairs

LiYCY

  • cores not in pairs

LiYCY-TP is LiYCY with the cores twisted in twos to form pairs. Twisting suppresses crosstalk between the signals in the cable; the tinned copper braid keeps external interference out. Choose LiYCY-TP when each signal gets its own pair, and LiYCY for individual control and switching signals.

LiYCY-TP or LiHCH-TP?

LiYCY-TP

  • PVC insulation and sheath

LiHCH-TP

  • halogen-free

Both have twisted pairs, a tinned copper braid and core colours to DIN 47100. LiYCY-TP has PVC insulation and a PVC sheath. LiHCH-TP is halogen-free and gives little smoke and no corrosive gases in a fire. Where the specification calls for low smoke and halogen-free, the choice is LiHCH-TP; otherwise LiYCY-TP is enough.
