LiHCH

LSZH flexible data cable, screened

Application

LiHCH is the halogen-free version of LiYCY: the same screened data and signal cable, but with LSZH insulation and sheath that give little smoke and no corrosive gases in a fire. For data centres, control rooms and public buildings. For twisted pairs there is the LiHCH-TP, in stock in Dordrecht in 6×2×0.5. We supply the multicore LiHCH on request.

LiHCH is a flexible, screened multicore data and signal cable with fine-stranded bare copper conductors, halogen-free core insulation, an overall braid of tinned copper wires and a grey halogen-free (LSZH) outer sheath. In the event of fire the halogen-free materials develop little smoke and no corrosive gases, which makes the cable suitable for locations where people and sensitive equipment must be protected, such as public buildings, data centres and control rooms. The braid screen limits the influence of external electrical interference on the transmitted signal. The cable is intended for the transmission of low-voltage data, measuring and control signals in dry and damp indoor locations, for fixed installation or occasional flexing without tensile load; it is not intended for outdoor use, direct burial or power distribution.

Applications

  • Data and signal wiring in data centres and control rooms.
  • Public buildings where the specification calls for low smoke and halogen-free.
  • Interference-sensitive signals where fire behaviour matters alongside screening.

What to look out for

  • Halogen-free and low smoke, but flame-retardant, not fire-resistant (no circuit integrity).
  • No CPR class declared: as a connection cable for mobile equipment, LiHCH falls outside EN 50575. Where the cable is installed permanently in a building and exposed to indoor air, the Bbl requires at least Dca. State with your enquiry which class your project needs and we will look into it for you.
  • Earth the screen (braid) at one end for analogue signals, at both ends for digital buses and HF interference.

Which one do I choose?

LiHCH or LiYCY?

LiHCH

  • halogen-free insulation and sheath

LiYCY

  • PVC insulation and sheath

LiHCH and LiYCY share the same construction: fine-stranded cores coloured to DIN 47100 under a tinned copper braid, for 250 V. LiHCH has halogen-free insulation and sheath, LiYCY PVC. In a fire LiHCH gives little smoke and no corrosive gases. Choose LiHCH where low smoke and halogen-free are specified, such as in data centres and control rooms; otherwise LiYCY is enough.

LiHCH or LiHCH-TP?

LiHCH

  • single cores in layers

LiHCH-TP

  • cores twisted in pairs

Both are halogen-free and screened with a tinned copper braid. In LiHCH single cores are laid in layers, in LiHCH-TP they are twisted in twos to form pairs. The pairs suppress crosstalk between the signals in the cable. Choose LiHCH-TP when each signal has its own pair for the outgoing and return conductor, and LiHCH for individual control and switching signals.
