Application

YSLY-JZ (also known as YY) is the unscreened, flexible PVC control cable for 300/500 V: fine-stranded class 5 copper cores, numbered cores with a green/yellow earth from 3 cores up. The workhorse for wiring between switchboard, machine and control where there is no interference. We supply it to order, with the lead time stated in the quote.

YSLY-JZ (also known as YY) is a flexible multicore control cable with class 5 plain copper conductors, PVC-insulated cores and a grey PVC outer sheath, rated 300/500 V. It is used for the interconnection of control and measuring equipment in machine tools, assembly lines and control-panel wiring, where flexibility and mechanical protection are required. Where low-smoke zero-halogen performance is needed, an LSZH variant should be specified instead.

Also known as: YY · YSLY-JB · control cable

Applications

  • Wiring of control and measuring circuits in machine tools and assembly lines.
  • Connections inside and between switchboards in a clean, interference-free environment.
  • Fixed installation and occasional free movement without tensile load, indoors.

What to look out for

  • No screen: if the cable runs past drives or motors, choose YSLYCY-JZ instead.
  • Class 5 cores: use ferrules for a reliable terminal connection.
  • CPR class Eca. Where the cable is installed permanently in a building and exposed to indoor air, the Bbl requires at least Dca; choose YY-LSZH (Dca) there. The wiring inside a control panel or machine is not covered by that requirement, but the cables running to it are.

Which one do I choose?

YSLY-JZ or YY-LSZH?

YSLY-JZ

  • PVC insulation and sheath

YY-LSZH

  • halogen-free

The construction is the same: fine-stranded class 5 cores, black and numbered, with a green/yellow core from three cores up, for 300/500 V. YSLY-JZ has PVC insulation and a PVC sheath. YY-LSZH is halogen-free and gives little smoke and no corrosive gases in a fire. Choose YY-LSZH in public buildings and data centres where that is specified, and YSLY-JZ in machine building and switchboards without that requirement.

View YY-LSZH →

YSLY-JZ or YSLYSY-JZ?

YSLY-JZ

  • no steel wire braid
  • thinner and more flexible

YSLYSY-JZ

  • galvanised steel wire braid
  • thicker and stiffer

YSLYSY-JZ has the same kind of numbered cores as YSLY-JZ, but surrounded by a PVC inner sheath, a galvanised steel wire braid and a transparent outer sheath. The braid protects against knocks and pinching, and the clear sheath lets you see damage or corrosion on the braid. That makes YSLYSY-JZ thicker and stiffer. Choose YSLY-JZ in cabinets and trays, and YSLYSY-JZ where there is a risk of mechanical damage.
