JE-Y(St)Y
Installation cable for industrial electronics, DIN VDE 0815, 225 V
JE-Y(St)Y is the VDE 0815 cable for industrial electronics: screened pairs for measuring, control and signal circuits in process control and building automation. Supplied to order; the lead time is stated in the quote.
JE-Y(St)Y (Bd) is a German cable for industrial electronics to DIN VDE 0815 and the industrial counterpart of the telecom cable J-Y(St)Y (the 'E' stands for 'Industrie-Elektronik', industrial electronics). It is used for information, measuring, control and signal transmission in dry and damp production areas, under plaster and, in suitable versions, outdoors, in interference-prone industrial environments. Solid bare-copper conductors (0.8 mm diameter) are insulated with PVC and stranded into pairs; the pairs are bundle-stranded ('Bd') and enclosed by a collective (overall) electrostatic screen (St) of plastic-coated aluminium/polyester foil in contact with a tinned copper drain wire, giving protection against electromagnetic interference. A PVC outer sheath (grey) completes the cable. It is rated 225 V and is not intended for power distribution.
Also known as: signal cable
Applications
- Measuring, control and signal circuits in industry.
- Process control and building automation.
What to look out for
- For industrial electronics to VDE 0815; for fire-alarm circuits with circuit integrity choose JE-H(St)H Bd FE180.
- For KNX/EIB building control choose the bus cable to the KNX specification.
- CPR class Eca. Where the cable is installed permanently in a building and exposed to indoor air, the Bbl requires at least Dca. The wiring inside a control panel or machine is not covered by that requirement, but the cables running to it are.

JE-Y(St)Y or J-Y(St)Y?
JE-Y(St)Y
- for industry
- 225 V
- tested at 2,000 V core/screen
J-Y(St)Y
- for buildings
- 300 V
- tested at 800 V
JE-Y(St)Y is the industrial counterpart of J-Y(St)Y and shares its basic construction: solid cores in pairs, a foil screen and a PVC sheath. JE-Y(St)Y is rated 225 V and tested at 2,000 V between core and screen. J-Y(St)Y is rated 300 V and tested at 800 V. Choose JE-Y(St)Y for measuring and control signals in industry, and J-Y(St)Y for telephony and signalling in buildings.

JE-Y(St)Y
- DIN VDE 0815
- PVC insulation
- 225 V
- solid 0.8 mm cores
RE-2X(St)Y
- EN 50288-7
- XLPE insulation rated 90 °C
- 300 V
- up to 1.5 mm²
JE-Y(St)Y follows DIN VDE 0815, with PVC insulation and solid 0.8 mm cores for 225 V. RE-2X(St)Y is the instrumentation cable to EN 50288-7, with XLPE insulation rated 90 °C, cross-sections up to 1.5 mm² and 300 V. If the specification calls for EN 50288-7, the choice is RE-2X(St)Y; for electronics and building automation JE-Y(St)Y is enough.
