H05VV-F is the common PVC connecting cord for 300/500 V: round, PVC insulated and sheathed, for household and office appliances under medium duty. The standard cord for appliance leads and extension leads indoors. Supplied to order; the lead time is stated in the quote.
H05VV-F is a harmonised PVC-insulated and PVC-sheathed round flexible cord to EN 50525-2-11, rated 300/500 V. It is intended for the connection of household and office appliances subject to medium mechanical stress, such as washing machines, refrigerators, kitchen and office equipment, extension leads and portable tools, in dry and damp indoor locations. The cord is suitable for frequent flexing without tensile load and for temporary use in damp rooms; it is not intended for outdoor use, heating appliances, industrial or agricultural premises, or for permanent installation in buildings.
Also known as: flexible cord
Applications
- Connecting cord for washing machines, refrigerators and kitchen and office equipment.
- Extension leads and connection of portable tools indoors.
- Applications with frequent flexing without tensile load.
What to look out for
- Not an installation cable: replace a cord in trunking or conduit with NYM or YMvK.
- Not outdoors: use a rubber cord there (H05RN-F or H07RN-F). Near hot parts, choose a silicone cable (H05SS-F).

H05VV-F or H05Z1Z1-F?
H05VV-F
- PVC
H05Z1Z1-F
- halogen-free insulation and sheath
Both are connecting cords for 300/500 V, for appliances under medium duty indoors. H05VV-F is PVC. H05Z1Z1-F has halogen-free insulation and sheath that give little smoke and no halogen acids in a fire. Choose H05Z1Z1-F in public buildings such as hospitals, schools and airports or where the specification calls for halogen-free, and H05VV-F elsewhere.

H05VV-F
- PVC
- dry and damp indoor locations
H05RN-F
- EPR insulation, polychloroprene sheath
- may be used permanently outdoors
H05VV-F is a PVC cord for dry and damp indoor locations. H05RN-F has EPR rubber insulation and a polychloroprene sheath that withstands oil, ozone and weather, and it may be used permanently outdoors. Choose H05VV-F for appliances and extension leads indoors, and H05RN-F for appliances and tools outdoors, in wet locations or around oil. H05RN-F comes in 0.75 and 1 mm²; for larger cross-sections there is H07RN-F.
