SiF is the heat-resistant silicone hook-up wire: a single flexible core rated to around +180 °C for internal wiring in hot appliances and luminaires. Supplied to order; the lead time is stated in the quote.
SiF is a heat-resistant single-core flexible wire with silicone rubber (SiR) insulation over a fine-wire class 5 tinned copper conductor, rated 300/500 V and built to the German specification DIN VDE 0250 (VDE). As a single-core wire it has no outer sheath: the silicone insulation is the only covering. It belongs to the same silicone family as the multi-core SiHF and the harmonised H05SS-F. The silicone insulation allows continuous operation at up to +180 °C, withstands short-term peaks and thermal shock, and in fire forms an insulating ash; the cable is not classified as fire-resistant. SiF is used as an appliance, internal and connecting wire in heat-exposed equipment and installations, such as ovens and furnaces, lighting and luminaires, heaters, saunas, boiler and steam plant, control-cabinet wiring, and the steel, glass and ceramics industries. A version reinforced with a glass-fibre braid (SiF/GL) is available on request for extra mechanical and abrasion protection; standard SiF has plain silicone insulation only.

Applications
- Internal wiring in appliances, luminaires and heating devices.
- Control cabinets and devices with high ambient temperatures.
What to look out for
- Silicone is soft: sharp cabinet edges and toothed strain reliefs cut into it; use smooth grommets.
- For a complete sheathed cable choose SiHF.
- Conductor
- Fine-wire stranded tinned (metal-coated) copper, class 5 to IEC/EN 60228 (VDE 0295).
- Insulation
- Silicone rubber (SiR), compound EI2 to EN 50363-1.
- Sheath
- None (single-core wire); the silicone insulation is the outer covering.
- Colours
- Single core available in a range of solid colours (incl. green/yellow); black as standard.
- Rated voltage Uo/U
- 300/500 V.
- Test voltage
- 2.0 kV.
- Standard
- DIN VDE 0250 (VDE); conductor IEC/EN 60228 class 5.
- Flame-retardant
- IEC/EN 60332-1-2.
- Halogen-free
- Halogen-free acc. to IEC 60754-1.
- Max. conductor temperature
- +180 °C (short-term +250 °C).
- Permitted operating temperature, fixed
- −50 °C to +180 °C.
- Min. bending radius, fixed
- 6 × outer diameter.
SiF or SiHF?
SiF
- no sheath
SiHF
- several cores under a sheath
SiF has only one layer: the silicone insulation is also the outside. That makes SiF intended for internal wiring in hot appliances, luminaires and cabinets, where the enclosure provides the protection. If the connection has to leave the enclosure as a cable, with several cores under a sheath, choose SiHF.

SiF
- silicone rubber
- continuous up to +180 °C
H05V-K
- PVC insulation
- 70 °C
Both are flexible single-core class 5 copper wires for 300/500 V. H05V-K has PVC insulation for 70 °C; SiF has silicone rubber and may run continuously up to +180 °C. In cabinets and appliances with a lot of heat, close to heating elements or lamps, choose SiF. At normal cabinet temperatures H05V-K is enough.
