Cables for grid reinforcement and infrastructure
Grid reinforcement needs medium voltage cable (N2XS(F)2Y, NA2XS(F)2Y, 6/10 to 20.8/36 kV) and low voltage underground cable (VO- and VG-YMvKas, NAYCWY) in long lengths, fast. Q Cables supplies both to infrastructure and cable contractors: from stock where possible, produced to route length where needed, with the lead time alongside the price.
Network operators are investing billions a year, and the contractors building the networks are being held up by material shortages and lead times. We provide the flexibility alongside the framework contract: for the urgent order and the extra route.
Medium voltage on a project basis
NA2XS(F)2Y in aluminium and N2XS(F)2Y in copper are produced per project, including large volumes. The lead time is stated in the quote, with the length breakdown and delivery dates fixed up front.
Low voltage from stock
VO-YMvKas Dca up to 4×6 mm² and VG-YMvKas Dca up to 4×240 mm² are held in our own stock: ordered before 12:00, usually on site within 1–2 working days. On request we supply NAYCWY, the German service cable to VDE 0276-603, with aluminium conductors and a concentric copper conductor. NAYCWY may also be laid in water and concrete.
How we work with contractors
Send the cable list or the specification. We check types against CPR class, compare copper with aluminium, match drum lengths to the pulling pits and deliver in phases on call-off, straight to the route. We arrange documentation when the project calls for it.

Do you also work alongside an existing framework contract?
Yes, that is exactly our role: the urgent order or the extra route for which the framework contract is too slow. We state the lead time with the price and keep to it.
Do you deliver straight to the route?
Yes. From stock or straight from production to the site, with drums matched to the equipment on site.
Copper or aluminium on the distribution network?
Over long routes almost always aluminium: even with the larger cross-section it needs, an aluminium conductor weighs about half as much as a copper one and costs a fraction of it. Copper where the trench or space is the constraint. We compare both side by side in the quote.
