YSLYCY-OZ
PVC screened flexible control cable without earth core, 300/500 V
YSLYCY-OZ combines a collective braid screen with the OZ configuration without a green/yellow earth core: all cores black and numbered. For screened signal and control circuits that need no earth core in the cable. Supplied to order; the lead time is stated in the quote.
YSLYCY-OZ is a flexible, screened PVC control cable for signal and control circuits in machinery, plant construction and industrial installations where electromagnetic interference has to be kept out of, or contained within, the cable. The tinned copper wire braid provides an effective overall screen and the fine-stranded class 5 conductors allow easy routing in dry and damp indoor locations, fixed installation and occasional free movement without tensile stress. All cores are black and numbered; this OZ configuration has no green/yellow protective conductor and is therefore intended for circuits in which no earth core is required in the cable. Not suitable for outdoor use without protection, for direct burial or for continuous flexing in drag chains.
Also known as: screened control cable
Applications
- Screened signal circuits in machine building and process installations.
- Circuits where earthing runs elsewhere and no earth core is needed in the cable.
- Wiring alongside interference sources where pick-up and emission must be kept low.
What to look out for
- OZ without earth core; choose a JZ type if a green/yellow conductor is required.
- With drives, earth the braid at both ends 360° through EMC glands; with a pigtail (a wire tail on the braid), the screen is largely ineffective at high frequencies.
- CPR class Eca. Where the cable is installed permanently in a building and exposed to indoor air, the Bbl requires at least Dca. The wiring inside a control panel or machine is not covered by that requirement, but the cables running to it are.
- Conductor
- Fine-stranded plain (bare) copper, class 5 acc. to IEC/EN 60228 (VDE 0295).
- Insulation

- Screen
- Braid of tinned copper wires over a PVC inner sheath, optical coverage approx. 70% or more.
- Sheath
- PVC outer sheath, grey.
- Core identification
- Black cores with consecutive white numbers acc. to VDE 0293-334; without green/yellow protective conductor (OZ).
- Rated voltage Uo/U
- 300/500 V.

- Flame-retardant
- IEC/EN 60332-1-2 (VDE 0482-332-1-2).
- Conductor standard
- IEC/EN 60228 class 5 (VDE 0295).
- Max. conductor temperature
- 70 °C.
- Permitted outer cable temperature, fixed
- −40 °C to +70 °C.
- Permitted outer cable temperature, flexing
- +5 °C to +70 °C.
- Min. bending radius, fixed

YSLYCY-OZ or YSLYCY-JZ?
YSLYCY-OZ
- no green/yellow core
YSLYCY-JZ
- green/yellow core from three cores
YSLYCY-OZ has only black, numbered cores, without a green/yellow protective conductor. YSLYCY-JZ has the same tinned copper braid screen, but does have a green/yellow core from three cores up. If earthing runs elsewhere in the installation or all cores carry signals, choose YSLYCY-OZ; if the protective conductor belongs in the cable, YSLYCY-JZ.

YSLYCY-OZ
- tinned copper braid
YSLY-OZ
- no screen
YSLYCY-OZ is YSLY-OZ with a screen: a PVC inner sheath with a tinned copper braid. Both have black, numbered cores without a green/yellow core and are rated 300/500 V. The braid keeps interference out of the cable, or in, provided the screen is earthed. Without interference sources nearby, YSLY-OZ is enough.
