Application

SiHF is the heat-resistant silicone cable: flexible, halogen-free and rated to around +180 °C, for ovens, foundries and heating technology. We supply it to order, with the lead time stated in the quote.

SiHF is a heat-resistant multi-core flexible cable with silicone rubber (SiR) insulation and a silicone rubber sheath, rated 300/500 V, built to the German specification DIN VDE 0250 (VDE). It is the German-designation counterpart of the harmonised cable H05SS-F (EN 50525-2-83) and shares the same CU/SiR/SiR construction. The fine-wire class 5 tinned copper conductors keep the cable flexible while the silicone insulation and sheath allow continuous operation at up to +180 °C, withstand short-term peaks and thermal shock, and in fire form an insulating ash; the cable is not classified as fire-resistant. SiHF is used to wire heat-exposed equipment and installations, such as ovens and furnaces, lighting and luminaires, heaters, saunas, boiler and steam plant, and the steel, glass and ceramics industries. It serves as an appliance and connecting cable in dry, damp and wet locations. A version reinforced with a glass-fibre braid (SiHF/GL) is available on request for extra mechanical and abrasion protection; standard SiHF has plain silicone insulation and a silicone sheath.

Applications

  • Wiring in hot environments: ovens, foundries, steel and glass industry.
  • Appliances and heating technology with high heat output.

What to look out for

  • Silicone is flexible but less resistant to cuts and abrasion; protect the cable against sharp edges.
  • Need single-core? Choose SiF.

SiHF or H05SS-F?

SiHF

  • German, VDE 0250

H05SS-F

  • harmonised, EN 50525-2-83

SiHF and H05SS-F are built as the same silicone cable for 300/500 V and +180 °C. H05SS-F is harmonised to EN 50525-2-83. SiHF is the German designation to VDE 0250 and comes in more core counts, from 2 to 24, and up to 16 mm². If the specification asks for a harmonised cable or literally H05SS-F, choose H05SS-F; for more than five cores or a larger cross-section, SiHF.

SiHF or SiF?

SiHF

  • several cores under a sheath
  • complete connecting cable

SiF

  • single core without a sheath
  • wiring inside appliances

SiF is a single silicone core without a sheath, for wiring inside appliances, luminaires and control cabinets. SiHF bundles several silicone cores under a silicone sheath and is therefore a complete connecting cable. Both go up to +180 °C. Choose SiF for internal wiring, and SiHF for the connection between appliances or to a machine.
