Application

ROZ1MZ1-K(AS+) is the fire-resistant, armoured instrumentation cable with a collective screen to EN 50288-7: copper with mica tape and XLPE insulation, collective screen, halogen-free inner sheath, steel wire armour and a halogen-free outer sheath. The reaction-to-fire class is Cca-s1b,d1,a1. Circuit integrity up to PH120, for measuring, control and signal circuits in industry and in hazardous (explosive) areas where EN 60079-14 calls for an armoured cable.

For connecting measuring, control and signalling instruments. A collective screen prevents interference, and galvanised steel wire armour provides good mechanical protection. Used where halogen-free, flame-retardant and fire-resistant cable is required, for example to supply emergency equipment. Fire resistance up to PH120.

Also known as: fire-resistant instrumentation cable

Applications

  • Measuring, control and signal circuits with a collective screen against external interference.
  • Fire-resistant signal connections with circuit integrity up to PH120 in industrial plants.
  • Hazardous (explosive) areas where EN 60079-14 calls for an armoured cable, and routes with mechanical stress.

What to look out for

  • Collective screen only: for crosstalk between the pairs themselves, choose the PiMF version RHOZ1MZ1-K(AS+).
  • Earth the collective screen at one end for analogue signals, at both ends against HF interference; armour always at both ends.
  • Remove the mica tape completely when stripping.
  • Circuit integrity of the installation needs brackets and boxes tested together with the cable as a system.
Construction
Conductor
Fine-stranded electrolytic copper, class 5, to UNE-EN 60228 / IEC 60228. The version without K has a stranded class 2 conductor.
Insulation
Mica tape + cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) according to UNE EN 50288-7.
Screen (collective)
Polyester tape + tinned copper drain wire + aluminium/polyester tape with 100% coverage.
Inner sheath
Halogen-free compound according to UNE EN 50288-7.
Armour
Galvanised steel wire.
Outer sheath
Halogen-free compound according to UNE EN 50288-7.
Electrical & thermal properties

Suitable for
Industrial use; hazardous areas (ATEX) where EN 60079-14 calls for an armoured cable.
Which one do I choose?

ROZ1MZ1-K(AS+) or RHOZ1MZ1-K(AS+)?

ROZ1MZ1-K(AS+)

  • collective screen only

RHOZ1MZ1-K(AS+)

  • also a screen per pair

ROZ1MZ1-K(AS+) has one collective screen over all pairs. RHOZ1MZ1-K(AS+) also has its own screen per pair. Otherwise they are the same: mica tape with XLPE, halogen-free sheaths, steel wire armour and PH120. The collective screen keeps out external interference; if different kinds of signal share the same cable, the screen per pair provides the separation needed.

ROZ1MZ1-K(AS+) or ROZ1MZ1(AS+)?

ROZ1MZ1-K(AS+)

  • fine-stranded copper, class 5
  • bends more easily

ROZ1MZ1(AS+)

  • stranded copper, class 2
  • stiffer

The K refers to the conductor. ROZ1MZ1-K(AS+) has fine-stranded class 5 copper, ROZ1MZ1(AS+) without K stranded class 2 copper. Insulation, screen and armour are the same. Fine-stranded copper bends more easily when pulling in and terminating; the version without K is stiffer.
