Application

H05VVC4V5-K is the harmonised, screened control cable with an oil-resistant outer sheath to EN 50525-2-51. The combination of braid screen and oil-proof sheath suits production and packaging lines where oil and lubricants reach the wiring. Supplied to order; the lead time is stated in the quote.

H05VVC4V5-K is a harmonised, flexible PVC control cable with an overall tinned-copper braid screen and an oil-resistant PVC outer sheath, built to EN 50525-2-51. It is intended for control, signal and measuring circuits in machinery, machine tools, production and packaging lines, and in control cabinets where interference from or into the cable has to be limited. The cable is suitable for fixed installation and for occasional, free movement without tensile load, in dry, damp and wet indoor locations and where mineral oils, greases or lubricants are present. It is not intended for continuous flexing, drag-chain use, outdoor or direct-burial installation.

Also known as: flexible control cable

Applications

  • Wiring of production and packaging lines with oil and lubricants.
  • Control and measuring circuits in switchboards with EMC requirements.
  • Machine tools where the sheath must resist mineral oil.

What to look out for

  • 300/500 V is enough for control circuits at 230/400 V. For motor supplies and distribution boards, a 0.6/1 kV cable such as YMvK is the usual choice.
  • With drives, earth the braid at both ends 360° through EMC glands; with a pigtail (a wire tail on the braid), the screen is largely ineffective at high frequencies.

Which one do I choose?

H05VVC4V5-K or YSLYCY-JZ?

H05VVC4V5-K

  • harmonised, EN 50525-2-51

YSLYCY-JZ

  • not harmonised

H05VVC4V5-K is the harmonised screened control cable to EN 50525-2-51, with an oil-resistant outer sheath. YSLYCY-JZ also has a tinned copper braid, but is not harmonised. If the specification calls for a HAR type or oil resistance to EN 50525-2-51, the choice is H05VVC4V5-K; otherwise YSLYCY-JZ is enough.

H05VVC4V5-K or YSLYSY-JZ?

H05VVC4V5-K

  • tinned copper braid
  • EMC screen
  • oil-resistant sheath

YSLYSY-JZ

  • galvanised steel wire braid
  • mechanical protection
  • transparent sheath

Both have a PVC inner sheath with a braid over it, but the metal differs. H05VVC4V5-K has tinned copper wire as an EMC screen, under an oil-resistant sheath. YSLYSY-JZ has galvanised steel wire for mechanical protection, under a transparent sheath. Choose H05VVC4V5-K where interference and oil are the concern, and YSLYSY-JZ where the cable must withstand knocks and crushing.
