H01N2-D is the classic rubber welding cable for 100/100 V: a very fine-stranded copper conductor (class 6) in a tough, heat- and spatter-resistant rubber sheath. For the electrode and return leads of welding equipment, dragged across the shop floor day in, day out. Supplied to order; the lead time is stated in the quote.
H01N2-D is a single-core, highly flexible rubber welding cable to HD 22.6 S2 (VDE 0282-6) / EN 50525-2-81, rated 100/100 V, for the electrode and return leads of electric arc-welding equipment and for the flexible connection of welding transformers, rectifiers and inverters. The very fine-wire bare copper conductor gives high flexibility for repeated handling and dragging on the shop floor and on site. A single special cross-linked rubber layer (over a separator on the conductor) forms the combined insulation and sheath; it is heat-, spatter-, oil-, ozone- and weather-resistant and remains flexible in the cold. The cable is intended for dry, damp and wet locations and hand-guided use; it is not intended for fixed installation or continuous forced reeling. It is not an installation cable for the mains. Where the cable is constantly moved and coiled, H01N2-E is the thinner and more supple version.
Also known as: welding cable · welding lead
Applications
- Electrode and return leads of electric arc-welding equipment.
- Flexible connection of welding transformers, rectifiers and inverters.
- Shop floor and site where the cable is dragged and flexed a lot.
What to look out for
- Highly flexible, class 6 (class 5 from 120 mm²). Only for the welding circuit up to 100 V, not as an installation cable and not for fixed installation. If the cable is moved and coiled all day, H01N2-E is thinner and more supple.
- Size the cable for the welding current and duty cycle; too thin a cable causes voltage drop and heat.
- Conductor
- Very fine-wire stranded bare (plain) annealed copper, class 6 (to 95 mm²) or class 5 (from 120 mm²) to IEC/EN 60228.
- Separator
- Synthetic film or paper tape over the conductor.
- Sheath
- Single special cross-linked rubber layer serving as combined insulation and sheath (polychloroprene / neoprene-based elastomer, compound EM5 to EN 50363-2-2); round; black.
- Core
- Single core; black (other colours on request).
- Rated voltage Uo/U
- 100/100 V (150 V DC).
- Test voltage
- 1.0 kV.
- Standard
- HD 22.6 S2 (VDE 0282-6) / EN 50525-2-81; conductor IEC/EN 60228.
- Flame-retardant
- IEC/EN 60332-1-2.
- Max. conductor temperature
- +85 °C.
- Permitted outer cable temperature, flexing
- −20 °C to +85 °C.
- Min. bending radius, flexing
- 6 × outer diameter.

H01N2-D or H01N2-E?
H01N2-D
- thicker rubber wall
- copes better with abrasion
H01N2-E
- thinner wall
- thinner and more supple
The copper and the welding rubber are the same; the difference is the wall. H01N2-D has the thicker rubber wall, so it copes better with abrasion and being driven over. H01N2-E has a thinner wall and, at the same cross-section, is thinner and more supple. Choose H01N2-D for rough shop floors and building sites, and H01N2-E when the welder keeps moving and coiling the cable.

H01N2-D
- welding circuit
- 100/100 V
H07RN-F
- mains supply
- 450/750 V
H01N2-D is only for the welding circuit: the electrode and return leads, rated 100/100 V. The mains supply to the welding set is 230 or 400 V and needs a mains cable such as H07RN-F for 450/750 V. So use H07RN-F from the socket or distribution board to the set, and H01N2-D from the set to the electrode holder and the work clamp.
