LiYY is the unscreened data and signal cable: fine-stranded copper, PVC insulation and core colours to DIN 47100. For signal and data transmission indoors where there is no interference. Where a screen is needed, choose LiYCY. Supplied to order; the lead time is stated in the quote.
LiYY is an unscreened, flexible multicore cable for low-frequency signal and data transmission in control, measuring and instrumentation circuits where no external interference protection is required. The fine-stranded bare copper conductors and the PVC insulation and sheath make the cable suitable for fixed installation and for occasional movement in dry and damp indoor environments, for example in switchgear, machinery, computer and office equipment and process-control installations. Cores are colour-coded to DIN 47100, which allows fast and unambiguous termination. The cable is not intended for the transmission of power or for outdoor use.
Also known as: data cable · signal cable
Applications
- Signal and data transmission in switchgear, machines and process control.
- Computer and office equipment with no external interference nearby.
- Fixed installation and occasional movement indoors.
What to look out for
- Unscreened: for interference-sensitive signals or near sources of interference, choose LiYCY.
- CPR class Eca. Where the cable is installed permanently in a building and exposed to indoor air, the Bbl requires at least Dca. The wiring inside a control panel or machine is not covered by that requirement, but the cables running to it are.
- For fixed installation and occasional movement; in drag chains choose a PUR drag-chain cable.
- Conductor
- Bare copper, fine-stranded to IEC 60228 / VDE 0295 class 5 (0.34 mm²: 7 × 0.25 mm).
- Insulation
- PVC.
- Screen
- None (unscreened).
- Sheath
- PVC, grey.
- Core identification
- Colour-coded to DIN 47100.
- Rated voltage
- 250 V (Uo/U); max. peak operating voltage 350 V for 0.14 mm², 500 V for 0.25 mm² and above. Not for power transmission.
- Test voltage
- 1,200 V (0.14 mm²); 1,500 V (0.25 mm² and above), core/core.
- Standard
- Based on DIN VDE 0812.
- Flame-retardant
- IEC / EN 60332-1-2.
- Max. conductor temperature
- 80 °C.
- Permitted outer cable temperature, fixed
- −30 °C to +80 °C.
- Permitted outer cable temperature, flexing
- −5 °C to +70 °C.
- Min. bending radius, fixed
- 5 × outer diameter.
- Min. bending radius, flexing
- 10 × outer diameter.
LiYY or LiYCY?
LiYY
- no braid
LiYCY
- tinned copper braid
LiYCY is LiYY with a tinned copper braid over the cores. Fine-stranded cores, PVC and core colours to DIN 47100 are the same. The braid only works if the screen is earthed. With no interference source nearby and insensitive signals, LiYY is enough; alongside drives and motors, or for analogue measuring signals, choose LiYCY.

LiYY
- signal and data cable
- 250 V

YSLY-JZ
- control cable
- 300/500 V
- black and numbered
LiYY is a cable for signal and data transmission at 250 V, with thin cores from 0.14 mm² coloured to DIN 47100. YSLY-JZ is a control cable for 300/500 V, with black numbered cores and a green/yellow core from three cores up. For control circuits at 230 V choose YSLY-JZ; LiYY is not intended for power distribution.
