Application

N2XRH-J is the halogen-free armoured power cable for 0.6/1 kV: XLPE insulation, galvanised steel wire armour and an HFFR sheath that gives little smoke and no corrosive gases in a fire. For outdoor use, in ducts and for direct burial where both low smoke and mechanical protection are needed. Supplied to order; the lead time is stated in the quote.

N2XRH-J is an armoured power and control cable for 0.6/1 kV, based on IEC 60502-1, for fixed installation indoors, outdoors, in cable ducts and in direct burial where mechanical protection and halogen-free behaviour are required. It has stranded class 2 copper conductors, XLPE insulation, a halogen-free inner covering, a single layer of galvanised round steel wires and a halogen-free, flame-retardant black outer sheath. In a fire the cable emits little smoke and no corrosive halogen gases. The J denotes a green/yellow protective core. Available with 3, 4 and 5 cores, and with three phase cores plus a reduced green/yellow core.

Applications

  • Power, utility and lighting supply outdoors, in ducts or direct burial.
  • Routes with a risk of mechanical damage where low smoke also matters.
  • Environments where no corrosive gases may be released in a fire.

What to look out for

  • Halogen-free and low smoke, but flame-retardant, not fire-resistant.
  • Earth the armour at both ends with glands that grip the steel wires; ordinary glands do not.
  • CPR class Eca. Where the cable is exposed to indoor air in a building, the Bbl requires at least Dca. For that we supply N2XRH-J in Dca or Cca on request.

G = with green/yellow core. In the 3 + 1 sizes the reduced fourth core is the green/yellow core; resistance is given as phase conductor / reduced conductor. Conductor resistance is the IEC 60228 class 2 maximum. Outer diameter and weight differ between constructions and production runs: choose glands with margin. Other sizes on request.

Which one do I choose?

N2XRH-J or VG-YMvKas?

N2XRH-J

  • halogen-free sheaths
  • green/yellow core (the J)
  • CPR class Eca

VG-YMvKas

  • PVC sheaths
  • no green/yellow core
  • CPR class Dca-s2,d2,a3

Both are XLPE cables for 0.6/1 kV with galvanised steel wire armour. N2XRH-J has halogen-free sheaths and a green/yellow core (the J), with CPR class Eca. VG-YMvKas has PVC sheaths and class Dca-s2,d2,a3; there is no green/yellow core, because the earth runs through the earth continuity conductor in the armour. If the cable must give little smoke and no corrosive gases in a fire, choose N2XRH-J; for a Dutch specification, VG-YMvKas.

N2XRH-J or BS 6724?

N2XRH-J

  • green/yellow core

BS 6724

  • green/yellow core: five-core only

Both are halogen-free XLPE cables for 0.6/1 kV with galvanised steel wire armour. N2XRH-J has a green/yellow core. On BS 6724 only the five-core version has a green/yellow core; the armour can serve as the circuit protective conductor if its steel cross-section is sufficient. Choose BS 6724 for a British specification; if you want a green/yellow core in a three-core cable, choose N2XRH-J.
