RS-485 1×2×0.20 LSZH
RS-485 bus cable, 1 pair 0.20 mm², 120 Ω, foil and tinned-copper braid, LSZH sheath
RS-485 1×2×0.20 LSZH is the screened bus cable with one pair: 120 Ω, foil plus tinned-copper braid and a grey halogen-free sheath. Supplied to order; the lead time is stated in the quote.
RS-485 1×2×0.20 LSZH is an RS-485 (EIA/TIA-485) data bus cable with a characteristic impedance of 120 Ω, for serial fieldbus communication between PLCs, drives, operator panels, meters and SCADA/RTU equipment. One twisted pair of stranded tinned-copper conductors with polyethylene (PE) insulation is enclosed by an overall screen of aluminium/polyester (Al/PET) foil with a tinned-copper drain wire and a tinned-copper braid, which keeps the bus reliable in electrically noisy installations and over long distances. The grey sheath is a low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) compound.
Also known as: RS485 cable · Modbus cable · fieldbus cable
Applications
- Modbus RTU and other serial RS-485 buses between PLC, drive and meter.
- Bus links in control cabinets and installations with a lot of interference.
What to look out for
- CPR class Eca. Where the cable is exposed to indoor air in a building, the Bbl requires at least Dca; choose RS-485 1×2×0.22 LSZH B2ca (110 Ω) there.
- Terminate the bus at both ends with 120 Ω, equal to the impedance of the cable.
- Conductor
- Stranded tinned copper, 7 × 0.19 mm (±0.008 mm), approx. 0.20 mm².
- Insulation
- Polyethylene (PE), nominal diameter 1.80 mm (±0.13 mm).
- Pair
- One twisted pair; colours white/blue and blue/white.
- Screen
- Overall aluminium/polyester (Al/PET) foil with a stranded tinned-copper drain wire, 7 × 0.19 mm.
- Braid
- Tinned copper, 112 × 0.12 mm, coverage 90%.
- Sheath
- Low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) compound, grey.
- Cross-reference
- Comparable to Belden 9841 (RS-485, 1 pair). Differs in sheath (LSZH instead of PVC) and conductor (7 × 0.19 mm instead of 7 × 0.20 mm).
- Rated voltage
- 300 V.
- Characteristic impedance
- 120 Ω.
- Mutual capacitance
- 42 pF/m (conductor to conductor).
- Conductor resistance
- max. 95 Ω/km at 20 °C.
- Temperature range
- −30 °C to +80 °C.
- Compliance
- RoHS (EU 2015/863) and REACH.
- Reaction to fire (CPR)
- Eca (EN 50575).

One or two pairs?
RS-485 1×2×0.20 LSZH
- one pair
- Ø 5.90 mm
RS-485 2×2×0.20 LSZH
- two pairs, also for four-wire
- Ø 6.80 mm
For a two-wire bus (half duplex) you use one pair. The second pair is for four-wire RS-485 (full duplex), with a separate pair for transmit and receive, or for the signal reference (common) that many devices ask for. Screen, impedance and sheath are otherwise the same. The one-pair cable is 5.90 mm thick, the two-pair cable 6.80 mm.

RS-485 1×2×0.22 LSZH B2ca
- CPR B2ca-s1a,d0,a1
- 110 Ω ±15 Ω
Both are halogen-free. This version is Eca. Where the cable is exposed to indoor air in a building, the Bbl requires at least Dca, and then you choose the B2ca version. It has 110 Ω ±15 Ω instead of 120 Ω, HDPE insulation, a blue UV-resistant sheath and a rated voltage of 600 V.
